The absence of debate!

During the gone elections, all kinds of organisation were arranging debate amonst the contenders. As usual, nothing came out of it. Just today it hit me, the reason we do not have debates in Liberia is because there is basically nothing to debate. It is just a power struggle amongst crowd of friends.

At the end, we all want the same thing.

In the United States, too, where we have debates, one notes the absence of debate. Each politician states some prepared comment. The opponent's reply is a comment that does not respond directly to the first comment. This goes back and forth. The speakers learn the art of changing the subject in a mannter sufficient to avoid the issue.

Would getting to this level be an improvement over Liberia's current system?

Nice blog, by the way. Would you, please, remove the "t" that I have inadvertently added to the word "manner"? Thank you for posting you thoughts.
